MARVEL MOTION COMIC
aniboom.com (2009)
In the Fall of 2009, Marvel Comics partnered with aniboom.com for a Motion Comic contest. The goal of the competition was to take a provided comic and add animation to all of the panels. I am a long-time fan of Marvel's characters, and I was honored to work with this action packed story from Jeff Loeb and Ed McGuinness!
The competition was held in two stages. For stage one, contestants were tasked with creating the first half of the motion comic. Five finalists were chosen, and those finalists would create the second half of their piece for final judging. I can't tell you how exited I was to not only place as one of the finalists, but also receive the community favorite vote as well!
While my entry ultimately wouldn't snag the grand prize, it was a thrill not only to work on a Marvel project, but also have that work recognized by the greater comic community. This contest also furthered my interest in the "2.5d" animation style, and would lead to work on other projects, such as the 38 Studios Cinematics and the Game of Thrones: Ascent trailer.
